Cardi B Settles $30 Million Lawsuit With Former Manager

CARDI B has settled a $30 million lawsuit against her by former manager KLENORD “SHAFT” RAPHAEL.

Back in 2018, Shaft filed a $10 million breach of contract lawsuit against Cardi, claiming she broke the agreement to sign with Quality Control. His original lawsuit claimed he helped with Cardi’s breakthrough by securing her appearance on “Love & Hip Hop” and connecting the rap star to publishers and producers who created her breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow.”  However Cardi denied these allegations, later filing a $30 million counterclaim accusing him of signing her to a deal without her lawyer present. She claimed he breached their agreement by not providing accurate accounts of her earnings, as well as stealing her earnings.

Now after two years, the lawsuit has been entirely dismissed with prejudice, meaning neither party involved can bring the other back into court over this dispute.

Halsey had to delete a photo she posted on her Instagram stories that was triggering for some fans. When asked to share a photo of her “lowest point,” the singer shared a mirror selfie of her body from when she was struggling with an eating disorder. Followers began calling her out for not having a proper trigger warning before the photo.

Halsey wrote on Twitter, “TW: disordered eating I am very sorry for posting a photo of myself depicting my struggle with ED without a sufficient trigger warning. I was very nervous to post it and didn’t think properly. I had positive intentions. I would never want to harm someone who shares my struggle.” She said that the post was immediately taken down, and continued, “I don’t need to be yelled at in the name of being educated right now. President Trump Signs Coronavirus Relief and Government Funding Bill

With unemployment benefits expiring and a pending government shutdown, President Trump signed the $900 billion coronavirus relief package, the White House announced Sunday night. The pandemic bill extends billions of dollars in coronavirus relief to millions of Americans. “Good news on Covid Relief Bill,” the president tweeted late Sunday before the signing of the bill was announced. “More information to follow!”

Members of Congress had urged the president to sign the pandemic relief bill and a $1.4 trillion omnibus bill to fund the government through September. Just last week, Trump called the relief bill as a “disgrace” and asked for direct payments to Americans to be increased from $600 in the bill to $2,000.  In a statement on Sunday night, the president said he was sending back to Congress “a redlined version” of the coronavirus relief bill insisting that those funds be removed. The President said, “As president, I have told Congress that I want far less wasteful sending and more money going to the American people in the form of $2,000 checks per adult and $600 per child. Much more money is coming.”

If Trump had not signed the stimulus legislation before a new Congress arrives on Jan. 3, the bills would have expired, forcing lawmakers to negotiate another package.

Authorities Identify Nashville Bomber After Found In Wreckage

On Sunday, authorities in Nashville identified the bomber, Anthony Quinn Warner, as responsible for an explosion on Christmas morning damaging dozens of businesses in the city’s downtown area.

During a press conference Sunday, investigators declared that they matched human remains at the scene to the 63-year-old Warner’s DNA and matched a vehicle identification number to a registration associated with him. The RV exploded in downtown Nashville on Friday after broadcasting a warning message advising people to leave the area 15 minutes before the blast that damaged 41 businesses, including historic buildings in the area. Authorities did not provide any insight on a possible motive for the explosion, however, Nashville Mayor John Cooper said on Sunday that the presence of an AT&T building in the area of Friday’s blast may have indicated it was intended as an attack on the service.

In a statement Sunday afternoon, AT&T said that more than 75% of mobility sites affected by Friday’s explosion had been restored.

House Democrats agree with President Trump demands of $2,000 stimulus checks

House Democrats aligned themselves with President Donald Trump and plan to vote Monday on legislation increasing the direct payments in the coronavirus stimulus bill to $2,000 per person, if Republicans block their efforts to pass it Thursday. The checks would be more than three times the $600 approved by Congress in the stimulus package approved earlier this week.

House Democratic leaders will first plan to try to pass the higher payments Thursday through an unanimous consent procedure that requires every Republican to go along. If that fails, lawmakers will bring a separate bill to the floor on Monday. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who played  major role in crafting the $900 billion stimulus package, confirmed on Wednesday that he would support the higher amounts. “For months now, I’ve been very supportive of another round of stimulus checks,” Gottheimer said. “If we can agree to larger stimulus checks, then let’s absolutely get it done. Our families and small businesses can’t afford a day more of inaction.”

On Wednesday, the President again said in an email, “I will NEVER accept a bad deal, which is why I have sent the Covid Relief Bill BACK to Congress. This bill is a DISGRACE. It’s called the Covid Relief Bill, but it has almost nothing to do with Covid, and it provides minimal relief for the American People.”

President Trump issues 26 more pardons and commutations including Paul Manafort and Roger Stone

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump granted 26 new pardons and commutations. Trump granted full pardons to his former campaign adviser Roger Stone and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort who were both convicted of multiple crimes related to Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and potential collusion by Trump’s campaign. Trump has pardoned five people connected with Mueller’s investigation including his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, George Papadopoulos, and Dutch lawyer Alex van der Zwaan

The White House on Wednesday said Stone was granted a “full and unconditional” pardon alleging he was treated unfairly by Mueller’s team due to “prosecutorial misconduct.”  Stone was sentenced to 40 months in prison for lying to Congress during the investigation.

Trump also pardoned Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, who pleaded guilty in 2004 to 16 counts of tax evasion.
