Machine Gun Kelly shares Vevo performance of ‘More Than Life’ featuring Glaive

Machine Gun Kelly performed “more than life” with rapper glaive on Vevo live series. The song was released from the vinyl edition of MGK’s sixth studio album Mainstream Sellout” and is co-written by MGK (Colson Baker), Travis Barker, glaive, Corey Sanders, Steve Manovski and Ichika Fukui, and is produced by Ichika Fukui, Ichika Fukui and Steve Manovski.

Machine Gun Kelly recently told Audacy’s Kevan Kenney that he plans to revert back to rap on his next album, saying, “I’m going to make a Rap album for myself. For no other reason, no point to prove, no chip on my shoulder. If I keep doing things to prove things to people, I’m going to one, drive myself crazy and two, not make a good product. I made [2020’s] Tickets to My Downfall and [2022’s] Mainstream Sellout because I wanted to make them. I need to now also make people miss that sound.  I’m going to do this tour and I’m gonna step into where I left Hotel Diablo and expand on my storytelling as a rapper and find a new innovative sound for the Hip Hop Machine Gun Kelly. That’s where my excitement is and where me as a music archaeologist wants to explore.”

Take a look at MGK and glaive’s “more than life” performance – here.

Sixth defendant in ‘Central Park Five’ jogger case is exonerated

A sixth man, a co-defendant of the ‘Central Park Five’ who were wrongly convicted in the 1989 rape of a New York jogger, was exonerated of a robbery conviction linked to the attack on Monday.  According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, the more than three decades-old conviction of the defendant, Steven Lopez, was overturned.  Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said:  “Many have largely forgotten there were six. Today, Mr. Lopez joins the other five.”

Lopez was 15-years-old when he and five other teenagers were arrested in connection with the vicious beating and sexual assault of investment banker Trisha Meili, who testified she could not remember the attack.  The other defendants — Antron Mccray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise — were convicted and served jail time. Lopez took a deal and pleaded guilty to robbing a male jogger in Central Park the same night as the attack to avoid a rape charge, and spent more than three years in prison.  District Attorney Bragg told the court: “Mr. Lopez was charged and pleaded guilty in the face of false statements, unreliable forensic analysis and immense external pressure.”

In 2002, convicted rapist and murderer Matias Reyes admitted he was behind Meili’s attack. DNA testing and other evidence confirmed Reye’s confession, prompting then-District Attorney Robert Morgenthau to file a motion to vacate the Central Park Five’s convictions. The five men settled with New York City for $40 million for the time they served in prison — roughly $1 million for each year served.

Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell transferred to low-security prison in Florida

Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell has been moved to a low-security prison in Florida to serve out a 20-year sentence for her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking scheme. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons,. the 60-year-old Maxwell is currently listed as an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee and was moved on Friday.

Maxwell’s attorneys had requested she serve her time in Danbury, Conn., according to court records filed in the Southern District of New York.  They argued that Maxwell received harsh treatment at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn because of her association with Epstein.

The North Florida prison, which houses more than 700 female inmates, will find Maxwell required to wake up at 6 a.m., dress in khaki pants and shirt and perform certain chores. The prison offers a number of activities including yoga, basketball, cooking and painting, according to FCI Tallahassee’s handbook.  However Duncan Levin, a former federal prosecutor in New York who was not involved in the case, said: “There is nothing cushy about Maxwell’s designation. She is going to be surrounded by barbed wire and fences.”

Maxwell was sentenced last month to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay a $750,000 fine, after being convicted by a jury in December on five of six counts relating to the sex trafficking scheme in which she was accused of procuring young girls to be sexually abused by Epstein. The former British socialite was found guilty of sex trafficking minors, transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and three related conspiracy counts.  According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Maxwell will be eligible for release in July 2037.

California Gov. Newsom declares state of emergency as Oak Fire wildfire grows near Yosemite National Park, forcing evacuations

Thousands were forced to evacuate in remote mountain communities near Yosemite National Park, as one of California’s biggest wildfires this year expanded to over 14,000 acres on Sunday amid sweltering temperatures and low humidity. The Oak Fire began Friday in Mariposa County, near the small town of Midpines. California Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency for Mariposa County because of the fire, and over 6,000 people in the remote Sierra Nevada foothills were evacuated.

Twelve miles east, firefighters fought against the Washburn Fire near Yosemite that threatened the park’s largest and most iconic sequoia grove.  According to Cal Fire, the Washburn Fire is 80% contained after two weeks of firefighting, but the Oak Fire remains 0% contained as of Sunday afternoon.

2,000 firefighters are battling the blaze under tough conditions including low humidity, high temperatures, and steep terrain. Cal Fire has also dispatched 17 helicopters, 225 fire engines, 58 dozers, and 23 water tenders to fight the Oak Fire.  Cal Fire spokesperson Natasha Fouts said Sunday “It’s hot out there again today. And the fuel moisture levels are critically low…and because it’s so dry, it’s easy for the spot fires to get established and that’s what fuels the growth.”

Cal Fire confirmed that as of Sunday afternoon, the fire had destroyed 10 residential and commercial structures and damaged five. Pacific Gas & Electric said on its website that more than 3,100 homes and businesses in the area had lost power, with no indication when it would be restored.

At least seven people are injured after shooting at Los Angeles park

The Los Angeles Fire Department said that at least seven people were injured following gunfire at a Los Angeles park on Sunday.  The fire department said in a statement that paramedics took four men and three women to area hospitals after the shooting at or near a car show at Peck Park in the San Pedro district in southwestern Los Angeles.

At least three of the patients were wounded by gunfire, including one man and a woman who were in critical condition, the statement read, saying “There are no other patients remaining at scene” and adding that the circumstances regarding the shooting have yet to be confirmed.

Los Angeles police had no suspect in custody, nor a suspect description, and they offered no details of the shooting.  However, they were not classifying the incident as an active shooter, indicating officers did not see continued danger of a random mass shooting.

Peck Park is a community center in San Pedro; according to the city’s parks and recreation website, the park has ‘a baseball diamond, skateboard park, gymnasium and walking trails.’
