BTS makes history on the Billboard charts with ‘Arirang’

BTS has set a new benchmark in music history with their fifth studio album Arirang and its’ lead single, “Swim.” The track soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the first time a South Korean artist has topped both charts simultaneously. Arirang also boasts the biggest debut of 2026 so far.

The album’s impact is staggering: all 13 tracks entered the Billboard Hot 100, and BTS became the first artist to claim the entire top 10 of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with songs from a single release. They also secured the top spots on the Artist 100, Global 200, Digital Song Sales, World Digital Song Sales, Top Album Sales, and Vinyl Albums charts. “Swim” continues its dominance at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart, while “Body to Body” and “FYA” chart at No. 28 and No. 39, respectively.

According to Luminate, Arirang debuted with 641,000 equivalent album units, including 532,000 in pure album sales — the strongest first week of the year and the largest for a male artist this decade. This marks BTS’ seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.

The album’s success extends globally, opening at No. 1 in the UK, France, and Germany, with multiple tracks entering international singles charts. With Arirang, BTS not only dominates the charts but reinforces their role as a worldwide cultural phenomenon.

Tate McRae, Twenty One Pilots, Kehlani, Gunna and more on lineup for Montreal’s Osheaga 2026

Montreal’s Osheaga Music and Arts Festival is gearing up for a major return this summer, with Tate McRae, Twenty One Pilots, and Lorde set to headline its 19th edition. The three-day event runs July 31 through Aug. 2 at Parc Jean-Drapeau, continuing the festival’s tradition of pairing two solo pop powerhouses with a prominent band at the top of the bill.

Opening night will belong to Twenty One Pilots, marking their first Osheaga appearance in more than a decade. The duo — Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun — now return as headliners after years of arena success. They’ll share the spotlight with artists including The xx, Geese, Kehlani and Wet Leg.

On Saturday, Calgary-born pop sensation Tate McRae takes center stage for her Osheaga debut (notably, Osheaga is currently her only scheduled performance of 2026.) Saturday’s lineup also features Sombr, Turnstile, Mt. Joy and Empire of the Sun.

Closing out the weekend, Lorde will headline Sunday night in support of her fourth studio album, Virgin. She previously topped the Osheaga bill in 2017 during the Melodrama era and is also slated for major festival appearances across North America this season, including stops in New York and Toronto. Joining her on the final night are Gunna, Major Lazer, Clipse and Zara Larsson.

As one of Canada’s largest and most genre-spanning festivals, Osheaga once again blends indie rock, hip-hop, electronic and pop. The lineup includes Franz Ferdinand, Little Simz, Of Monsters and Men, JID, Viagra Boyz, Subtronics, Horse Girl and Oklou, among many others.
